The derailleur is an essential part of the bicycle's development, as it allows the chain to pass over the chainrings or sprockets for gear changes. The rear derailleur places the chain on the chosen sprocket. A chain tensioning system is integrated into the derailleur. The front derailleur changes the position of the chain on the chainrings to choose the most appropriate development.
