Atax was a French brand specialising in aluminium stems and handlebars, which featured prominently on bicycles from the 60s to the 80s. It belonged to Spidel, a group of French component manufacturers. Renowned for its lightweight, affordable parts, it equipped many racing and touring bikes. The brand disappeared with the decline of the French cycle industry in the face of competition from Asia.
